Jackson was the son of poor immigrants from Ireland, had little formal education and lived on the frontier in Western Tennessee. Upper class people were uncertain of what he might do if he became president and his Western friends and supporters took on positions of power in the government. I think people always tend to fear change even if they are not sure that it will be harmful. In fact there is an expression: "A known evil is better than than an unknown good,".
Jackson was not well-born and he lived with the poor people on the Western frontier.
Further he did not have a degree from Harvard or Yale or European schools nor anywhere else. As such, the rich and well-born did not trust him and did not think he was qualified to lead the country. They also could see that his election would herald a shift in the power structure of the nation and they wanted to keep control as long as possible.
Common people, such as the working class, viewed Andrew Jackson as their champion. Andrew Jackson served as the 7th U. S. President.
I came across it searching the internet for help on becoming a class president
it was used for Andrew Jackson to help to appeal to the middle class at the time of his election that he was just like them. in effect, for the middle class, voting for another middle class president he would address issues near and dear to them instead of address issues that appeal to the upper class. all in all, this strategy worked for Jackson and he was elected as president but he was actually incredibly wealthy and not an old hickory. -mdat
keep women from becoming second class citizens, among other things.
He promised to take all the American Indians out of the people's way (the pioneers) and he promised to help the poor, low class of people in the south against the rich and upper class people. He was a racist, hypocrite, and the worst president ever in office.. besides Herbert Hoover.
You can pick a few people by yourself. then you could tell everybody to write the person that they want to be class president. the people you choose for class presidents stand up
President W. Bush! A bush is a plant, I learned this in a Riddle our teacher gave us in class!!!
True, if by common and ordinary, you mean common and plebeian. There was a strict class division in Britain, between the aristocratic ruling class and the common people. This distinction persisted in the US, particularly in the cities along the coast. Jackson was the son of poor immigrants and surely was not a member of the old families established families that had come to rule the US.
You have to make poster and ad's about your campaign.
I am class president of my class, and I have always wondered the same thing until last year, when people started electing me. As class president, I do things that are very important. When our teachers have to represent the work we do, the class president has to put 10x more effort into it, because theirs goes to the schoolboard. And also, most class Presidents have to explain things when other students don't understand/or the teacher can't get to.(:
Yes. He was a president well liked by the middle and lower class people but hated by his own peers and the upper class.
