Warner Bros. President Alan F. Horn explained that Superman Returns was a very successful film, but that it "should have done $500 million worldwide. We should have had perhaps a little more action to satisfy the young male crowd." Singer reacted incredulously to the studio complaints, saying, "That movie made $400 million! I don't know what constitutes under-performing these days..." $175 million was the maximum budget Warner Bros. was projecting for the sequel, as Superman Returnscost $209 million.

There already were two direct-to-video Batman Beyond movies. In 1999 titled appropriately, Batman Beyond The Movie& Batman Beyond Return of the Joker in 2000, but those aside, I suppose technically Yes, you can submit a request to them to make another film, but it really would be a pointless endeavor since they don't make movies just because someone asks them to.

There are different kinds of intelligence. Superman has a Kryptonian brain which makes him very good at the sciences. But he considers Batman to be the most dangerous man alive. The best way I know to put it is that Superman can fight a battle-- Batman can plan a war. It is a pretty safe bet that Batman has devised means to neutralize or if need be even kill, every superhero out there, in case they go bad. Batman has the strategy skills. At the end of "Dark Knight Returns", Batman has to plan an attack on Superman, basically to beat Superman to a pulp and make him understand the wrong he has done by being the Government's lap dog and getting rid of all the other superheroes... that "the American Way" does not consist of letting the government get arrogant, secure in the knowledge that whatever the world's response, Superman will clean their clocks. Batman would never have fallen for that to begin with, so his patriotism could not be used against him. They would be eqaul, Batman is a genius, and Superman can learn anything in a second.
