The spinning Jenny was invented in a time when Labour was in shortage and people could not sustain their household by practising one job alone. Women began to work for the family. Back then, the only plausible work for women was in the section of weaving. The spinning Jenny could spin cotton in half the time that the women took to complete the work. Production increased with this machine. Owners of productions no longer had to put up with the weak labour force. Industrialists everywhere in India, began to sport the new "Spinning Jenny" and gradually got rid of people to do the work. The women were distraught. They were hostile to the new technology in fear of poverty and unemplyoment. Thus, women attacked these machines.
The spinning Jenny was an invention that allowed much quicker manufacture of cloth and so placed many people into unemployment

They would spin wool and flax into thread, both for their own use and to sell to professional weavers. In early medieval times, both men and women worked as weavers, but in the later medieval period women were generally squeezed out of the trade by men.
