i don't know your situation all that well but maybe she was talking to her friend about you;some time before, and her friend suggested that you where no good for her and suggested your crush to just stop talking to you, but she might have not wanted to stop talking to you so shes just avoided the subject of "you" with her best friend by calling you her brothers' friend, so she wouldn't let her friend know she was with you just so she wouldn't have to hear a lecture from her friend.
because girls tend to look out for their best friends like that. if we know a guys is no good for them we'll try to keep them away. but once again i don't know you situation.
