Communism (a global community with. Io borders or governments or money) was certainly not being ‘spread‘ in Vietnam.
If it hadn't been for communism, the US would have stayed out of it.
im not sure but they did want to rule Vietnam in a way, and they used the reason: America didnt want Communism to spread, in a way as blame to win the war and therefore rule it afterwards
The Vietnam war started during the cold war. The United States entered the Vietnam war in hopes of stopping the spread of communism.
The Vietnam War started as part of the Cold War; communism vs. democracy. The United States feared the spread of Communism from the Soviet Union. And corrupt politicians in Vietnam used this fear to justify their desire to keep the wealth of Vietnam for themselves.
The Vietnam war started in 1962. Because that is when it looked like South Vietnam was going to fall to communism

North Vietnam benefited from assistance by Communist China, but was not communistic at the start of the Vietnam War in the 1960s. It wasn't taken over by Communists until 1976. Korea was the FIRST "Hot" battle of the Cold War. Vietnam was the SECOND "Hot" battle of the Cold War. The Communists lost (or stalemated) with the first battle, but won the second battle. The communists were contained in Korea. They expanded in Vietnam. The policy of containment in Vietnam was a US foreign policy to contain and isolate the spread of communism to neighboring countries. If communism were not contained in North Vietnam, then South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand would inevitably become communist as well.
The American involvement started in 1964 (Pres Johnson) and ended in 1973. Vietnam united and the whole country beacame Communist. The USA lost, ie. they could not prevent the spread of communism.
There's only been two wars fought between the free world and the communist one. Korea & Vietnam.
