No, I honestly think that Anne made a mistake by making her diary. She was aware that someone would find it, and use it for further research, so why write your personal thoughts in it?
No she didn't. When the men took her and the people living in the attic she obviously had to leave everything behind. The diary was later found by the family that owned the building where she stayed.

- Some statements that she heard on the radio encouraged her to add more detail (for possible future research), but she did not write the diary for publication or primarily for future research. It was, above all, a personal record, not a chronicle.
- After the Franks and the others were arrested, Miep Gies went back, found the diary and kept it. When Otto returned as the sole Survivor she returned it to him.

Miep Gies, the last living member of the group who helped to hide the Jewish family found the diary and saved it. She died January 11, 2010 at 100 years of age.
