they did. Several hundred inmates learned in October 1944 that they were to be killed and rose up against the Nazis, killing three guards. They also blew up one of the crematoriums and a gas chamber with explosives smuggled in by inmates who were used as forced labor at an arms factory.

The Nazis crushed the uprising, killing almost everyone who was involved. The women who smuggled the explosives into the camp were hanged in public.

The revolt only included some 400 of the Sonderkommando. Unfortunately the resistance group of the main camp, with whom the SK had been planning a revolt for the previous few months, refused to join in as knew that the Soviets were not far away.

Yes. The main rebellions were in extermination camps, where the prisoners knew that they would die anyway, whatever they did:

  1. Treblinka II - Rebellion and mass break-out, 2 August 1943. (Of the 600 prisoners who broke out, only about 40 were still alive at the end of the war).
  2. Sobibor - Rebellion and mass break-out, 14 October 1943. (Of the 300 or so prisoners who broke out, 50-70 were still alive at the end of the war).
  3. Auschwitz II (Birkenau) - Rebellion by the Sonderkommando, 7 October 1944. Crematorium IV was blown up (using explosives smuggled in by some of the women prisoners who worked at an armanents factory near the main site) and some SS men were killed.

Yes. They were few and far between and all unsuccessful, but they did occur.

One particularly notable rebellion occurred on October 7, 1944. Auschwitz, like most death camps, had Jewish prisoners operating the crematoria called Sonderkommandos. When several of these Sonderkommandos learned that they too were going to be killed, they procured smuggled explosives from female Jewish workers in nearby armament forced-labor camp. The Germans crushed the revolt, but not before the crematorium and nearby gas chamber were destroyed. Almost all of the Sonderkommandos involved in the rebellion were killed. The Jewish women who had smuggled the explosives into the camp were publicly hanged in early January 1945.

Main reason is that they were scared and controlled. To understand how the Nazis at Auschwitz were able to control people, you need to know how it works. First of all it's the round up and sent on trains to the camp and when they get there, they are yelled at with guard dogs barking. This creates fear for the new arrivals and when they notice families being separated to never be seen again, they do get a feeling. From hear the guard would treat them poorly by most so they will be scared to even rebel against the Nazis. As well as the Nazis had guns and was well organised to eventhough the prisoners outnumber the guards, they are far from skilled.

A Survivor of Auschwitz once said in a documentary: "The only way to get out of Auschwitz was through the crematorium chimneys." Therefore, the answer is probably no.
