King George III (the third) ruled Great Britain (England) from 1760 to 1820. George III was one of the longest reigning British Monarchs.
The Declaration of Independence was written specifically for King George III. The colonists wrote and signed the document in order to notify the King that they were going to become their own country.

They wanted to free from it because they were tired of "taxation without representation" and they didn't want to pay taxes that only benefitted King George.
They wanted George Washington to be king but he refused, saying that if he became king that America would become the same as Britain, so instead they agreed that the people would pick someone to rule with considerable power but not dictator powers. Did that help?
King George VI ruled the United Kingdom.

George III was the king of Britain when the US won its freedom from British rule.
They felt it was unfair to be taxed without representation, which to this day, is still a rather controversial subject to patriots of the United States and the United Kingdom.

The Patriots and the Tories were two groups of people during the American Revolution. The Patriots were a group of "rebels" against the King(George III) and wanted freedom and independence in America. The Tories were "loyalists", that is, loyal to the King. They were against independence in America and were proud of being British. They most likely just didn't want conflict with Britain during this time.
At one time, King George ruled America.
Loyalists support the leaders, patriots defend their country. During the American Revolution Loyalists supported the rule of the English King while Patriots wanted a new government for the colonies (they were not states yet).
