The typical English attitude towards Muslims has several prongs, which while they may not rise to the level of hatred, do cause dislike and antagonism:

Imposition of Values: A number of Muslims have filed petitions assailing historical English values and ideals regardless of the fact that Muslims remain a small percentage of Englishmen. For example, Muslims in England have protested the discussion of anything related to pigs such as reading the "Three Little Pigs" in pre-school or a famous statue in north England of a pig. Muslims also demand that Englishmen tread lightly when discussing Mohammed, which upsets the English sensibility that anything is up to question. Since Muslims do not have a historical presence in the UK, most Englishmen believe that Muslims do not have a right to impose their societal values on other Englishmen. They have little issue with Muslims conscientiously avoiding the symbols that cause them distress, but see no reason why they must destroy what they hold dear to accommodate a small minority.

Failure to Culturally Mix: Many Muslims in England live in primarily Muslim communities where they do not live a traditional English lifestyle. There a physical symbols of this, like the fact that many women wear the hijaab, that Muslims go to Muslim primary schools, and that they primarily work in majority-Muslim environments. As a result, many Englishmen see Muslims as transplanted into England as opposed to having moved to England. It's as if they never left their country of origin, which is both insulting and scary to some Englishmen. It's insulting because it basically says that they want the economic opportunities without experiencing the culture and it's scary because the English are afraid that the growth of the Muslim communities will eventually lead to the end of English culture.

The British also know that if they were to travel to Muslim Countries they would be expected to behave, respect and act the Muslim way at the peril of Sharia law. So the British rightfully expect Muslims who are in England to behave and respect the British culture, traditions, Christianity and laws. Because many Muslims do not respect this Country as British and want to push their lifestyles into the foreground then they are feared and hated. The British see much wickedness, disrespect and violence ingrained in the Muslim culture that the British do not like. The UK is a primarily a peaceful law abiding Country that welcomes all cultures as long as they respect the British culture and laws. Anyone who is against the British cultures and fights for their own cultures above the British are not really welcome.

The attitude is the same wherever you travel around the World and regardless of your religious beliefs ; you must respect the Country you visit, obey the laws of the land and respect their traditions and culture.

Immigration Issues: Muslims in England are primarily immigrants and so they catch the flack that immigrants typically do (even those who are not Muslim). These are things like, not being able to speak the language, looking different, having different hairstyles and clothing styles, and the feeling that they are "stealing jobs" from native-born Englishmen.

Violence and Advocacy: There is an increasingly vocal element in the English Islamic community that advocates for a violent overthrow of the English system to create an Islamic State in England. Individuals like Anjam Choudhry have founded organizations like Muhajirun (currently banned in the UK) with this explicit stated goal. There are also the 7-7 Attacks and other events of Muslim violence. Muslims also are very keen to protest whatever they dislike and since many of those protests concern the Freedom of Expression (usually over blasphemies), these tend to solidify the English belief that Muslims may not support the methods of violent individuals and organizations, but they support the ultimate goal.

Many English people are Muslims. Questions such as this infer a generalisation, which are usually wrong.

Most people in the West do not hate Asians or Muslims. The people that do hate Asians usually think Asians are inferior to Europeans.
