Heater core is probally leaking. Should be located under dash on passenger side.
Leaking heater core
Likely as not there is a coolant leak, perhaps in the heater core.
coolant smell/leakyes more than likely that's your prob. but could be maybe a hose.
If it is not actually over heating, then if the smell is outside the car, look for coolant leaks around the head and the thermostat cover. Inside the car could be a leaking heater coil.
I hope you like the smell of warm coolant in your car. Also, prepare yourself for a nice footbath of warm coolant.
Turn on the heat, and see if the same smell is there. The most likely cause is a coolant leak in the heater core, causing the coolant fumes to get into the ac.
Yes. That smell is the coolant being blown into the air ducts. You might also notice a slimy film on the the glass that is very difficult to clean.
Theres a leak. Probably a hose but could be radiator or heater core, water pump or engine core plug
The smoke you see may be moisture/steam. The heater core is probably leaking engine coolant. If the "smoke" has a sweet smell to it, it's engine coolant. More info about the vehicle such as model and year would help.
If you are getting coolant inside the car your Heater core is leaking but if only smelling coolent. The hose on the exterior maybe the issue and it maybe that the sound blanket in that area where the ends of the heater core pass thru the firewall is asborbing coolent hence the smell. This should give you a starting point hope it helps.
If you have lost a sufficient amount of coolant this will stop the heater working because there will be no hot water in the heater rad.
yes
