What you are hearing is called "Pinging" or pre-detonation. This is not good and may eventually cause engine damage. It is caused by burning too low an octane fuel, Carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, or possible an engine out of time. Have the timing checked if you are burning the proper octane fuel. Also purchase a can of Seafoam cleaner and pour one can in a full tank of fuel. See if the pnging disappears. If none of this stops the pinging, then check your engine for an intake manifold leak or vacuum hose leak. Also purchase another can of Seafoam and inject it into the intake to remove carbon deposits. Follow the directions on the can very carefully when doing this. You will see lots of smoke, so don't be alarmed, and be careful not to stall the engine by adding too much Seafoam. If none of this helps, seek out professional help, and in the mean time move up to a higher octane fuel to stop the pinging until you can get it corrected.
Take it to a mechanic
Exhaust manifold gasket leaking
Most likely the ticking you are hearing is that from your solonoid. This is generally related with insufficient power from the battery.
Most likely it's a CV joint.
Your valves need adjustment. Take it to your preferred mechanic.
a "knocking" noise could be your lifters. and the ticking when accelerating and letting out of the gas is the same thing. check your oil and if it's full then you may need to think about either having them adjusted, or getting new ones. depending on what you have depends on whether or not you wanna sell it
Hearing the ticking of the clock often signifies the passing of time or can evoke a sense of urgency or anxiety. It may also be a reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the need to make the most of it.
The ticking noise - is their 'radar' - bat's calls are just about audible at the top end of human hearing. Some people can hear them without an artificial bat 'locator'.
Best guess for this is any of a 1,000 causes, BUT if I am hearing you correctly I am BETTING it is a EXHUAST LEAK... Or please explain if you mean ticking, or taking over like passing?
You may be hearing the vacuum pump near the driver side fender...which is normal

No, a ticking noise could be lifters, rods, piston slap or who knows what else without hearing it.
