Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowship ONLY when someone has committed a gross sin and are UNREPENTANT toward such actions. No one is desired to leave the safety of the congregation. Only when someone flat doesn't care what they have done are they disfellowshipped.
This is for the health of the member...hopefully, the loss of the family and fellowship that they once enjoyed will be missed and also for the health of the congregation....so that the "bad" influences aren't condoned within the congregation.
And make no mistake....they will be welcomed back with open arms.
this is one of Jehovah's witnesses non scriptural practices and tactics.
that way they can manipulate their members, they can press them, humiliate them, faulty accuse them. The Bible shows that the average Jehovah's witness has also rights. in the Old Testament he could go to the elders located in the gate of the town to find justice from the wrongdoer. that was in public. again we read in the New Testament that all discipline were publicly given. they do not fear the grate God Jehovah. but in his appointment time He is the one Who will punish them hard according to their deeds.

We do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin. If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible's moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped. The Bible clearly states: "Remove the wicked man from among yourselves."-1 Corinthians 5:13.
Staying loyal to Jehovah is a constant challenge for the members of the Jehovah's Witness religion.
