For Jews, any criticism of the State of Israel is going to be difficult to take, because Jews are naturally patriotic for their homeland. However, criticism of Israel should be concerning its policies and founding ideologies. What many Palestinians do when they protest the State of Israel is to use historical Anti-Semitic arguments in addition to Anti-Zionist arguments. This is to say that they draw caricatures of Israeli leaders with hooked noses, for example, or that they use images and text from Anti-Semitic texts like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to criticize Israel. This combined with the statements of what the extremist Palestinians threaten to do to the Jewish population of Israel makes Jews feel threatened that if the Palestinians ever did come to power, that they would behave in a thoroughly Anti-Semitic fashion.

This is a story to illustrate the fear. When Jaffa surrendered to Israeli forces in 1948, many of the Arabs ran away to positions in Gaza. Some stayed and peaceably surrendered. The Palestinian fighters were shivering and completely surprised when they were placed in normal prisons as POWs. When asked why they were shocked about Israeli treatment and eventual repatriation to Egypt, they responded, "because we expected you to do to us what we would have done to you". Jews do not want to know what they would have done to the Israelis.

Why did Roman officials and many Jewish leaders regard Jesus as a troublemaker?

The only Roman official with whom Jesus ever interacted was Pontius Pilate. All the other Romans with whom He interacted were soldiers and functionaries [tax collectors]. None of the soldiers who interacted with Him ever displayed any fear of Jesus. Many believed in Him, trusted Him, and asked Him to intervene for them. That leaves Pilate. Pilate wasn't afraid of Jesus either. If he had been, he wouldn't have sentenced Him to death. No, the people whom Pilate feared were the people in the crowd in the judgment court where Jesus was tried. It was their threat to begin an insurrection that he feared. That's why he caved in to their pressure. So - Who's next on the officials list?
