The first commandment requires the worship of God, none forbid it.
The non-belivers of Mecca worshiped idols and pictures of dieties. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) forbid his followers to make idols of picture lest they should start their worship. For the same reason he forbid his own pcture to be made lest his followers should start worshiping his picture.
Not if they're good protestants. Depending on what edition you have, statues for prayer violates either the 2nd or 3rd Commandment. Thou shall not make graven images and bow down and worship them. Some versions forbid even making a pile of rocks.
