They don't. There aren't any Mayans left. this just means the calendar resets back to 0. nothing special. they actually celebrated when it resetted. So if you fell like it celebrate on new years,2013. They also told a prophecy that the world would end in 2012, only because their calender didn't go up to 2012 before they were wiped out. hah!
