Why do Porsche have the engine at the back instead of in the middle like a Ferrari or Lamborghini?

Ferrari have engines in the back too. It is better because exotic cars are real wheel so you get more power by having the engine in the back.
Also, the 914 was a mid-engine car. Center of grav. was dead-center. They handled very well.
