Does the Porsche 911 have a cam belt?

No, the 911 engines, starting with the type 901 air-cooled version, have always driven the camshafts via chains, either from an intermediate gear or shaft. This trend continues with the introduction of the latest Carrera models that now use direct fuel injection.

How much horsepower does a Porsche 911 turbo have?

Answer The latest incarnation, the 2007 997 Turbo, has 450 bhp, which is a lot.

What year are you talking about. Porsche usually ups the horsepower of their cars from when the model is first introduced until the most recent versions. They also keep increasing the liters of their cars every few years and expanding engine size when they introduce updates. The 911 Turbo (930) has been around since 1976, when the car produced around 245 hp and had a 3.0 liter engine. It's been expanding ever since, so you should just look up the various horsepower ratings over the years. (The European versions usually have slightly more horsepower than the American cars.)

How many seats does a Porsche have?

it depends... i have owned a porsche 968 coupe with 4 seats, a porsche 911 turbo with 4 seats, a porsche gt3 with 2 seats, and a posche carrera gt with 2 seats. The porsche's that tend to be faster more expensive seem to have 2 seats, due to the fact that a lot of the expensive 1's, especially the gt3's, are meant for racing/speed. 2 seated porsches have exra weight in the back of the car for traction and grip, which makes them easy to control in higher speeds.

If you bought a 1987 Porsche 930 turbo 3.3l h6 why does everyone say it is a 911 turbo when you are looking for parts?

Porsche uses different internal numbers for the turbo models, the following are what they have; 924 Turbo = 931

944 Turbo = 951

911 Turbo = 930 The 930 line stopped in 1989, Porsche got away from the different internal numeration for turbo and non-turbo models. "911" is the generic term for Porsche's iconic rear-engine sports car. The internal numerical designation for the present model is 997, and Porsche now applies that designation to both Turbo and non-Turbo models.

Is the Porsche carrera gt the fastest Porsche?

There is no fast car, there is only fast drivers.

- If by fastest you mean best top speed, then it is the fastest Porsche produced until now (for the road) together with the brand new GT2 RS.

Both able to have top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

- If by fastest you mean best lap time, then we can take the world famous track "Nürburgring Nordschleife" in germany, where the Carrera GT is not the fastest Porsche, as it make 1 lap in 7:28 min but the new GT2 RS is making in 7:24 min.

Did Porsche manufacture a 993 without an emblem on the rear deck lid in 1995?

I doubt it. It simply said Carrera in script letters as I recall. In coupe form the 1995 car can be id'd by the "towel rack" spoiler just below the rear window. The 1996-98 993 does not have this and the exhaust pipe outlets are somewhat different looking as well. The cabriolet kept the towel rack I believe.

When did Porsche replace the spare tire with a repair kit for the 911 series?

Once the 911 entered the 997 series build cycle, Porsche decided that to save weight, the spare tire, lift jack and lug wrech, would be removed from the parts installed in the front trunk and replaced with a can of tire sealant and a 12V air compressor. Perhaps they thought that since the new tire pressure monitoring system would allow you to detect low inflation pressures, the tire sealant would help restore enough usability in the tire to get you to a repair station before a major failure of the tire. The tires, currently approved for use on Porsches, are designed to be more durable in case of a puncture, but they are still made of rubber.

What does the 911 in a Porsche 911 mean?

Before the Porsche 911 was introduced in late 1963, it was known by the factory during its development as Project 901 (a number with no significance outside of keeping Porsche's many projects easily organized; every car under development by Porsche receives a 3-digit number identifying it). When it came time to put the car into production, Porsche planned on leaving the new model as the 901. French car manufacturer Peugeot, however, objected on the grounds that it held the rights in France to any car name consisting of three numbers with a zero as the center digit. Thus, Porsche decided to bump the zero up to '1' and the 911 was born.

How was Porsche invented?

A brilliant enggineer named Ferdinand Porsche (who is also the creator of the famous VW Bettle) couldn't find a right sportscar for him,so he made one based on his popular creation, the Beatle.Unlike any other high performance sportscars at that time,Porsche's sportscars are reliable, practical, have enough ground clearance to pass through bad roads, compact (in size),and most of all,the magic of making everyone smile who drives the car.
