So when we invaded, the Taliban had no choice but to fight us. In order to get the upper hand, we allied with the Northern Alliance (they're the current govt. in Afghanistan. Then the Taliban made themselves disappear for a few years (don't ask me how) and now they fight so they can gain control of Afghanistan.
It's actually the government file name of terrorists, there is no taliban per say, no one group but the government started calling terrorist groups taliban so it stuck.
