Cell transportation is vital for the cell because the cell needs a mechanism to purge waste out of the cell, to take in useful substances, and to transport substances within the cell. If cell transportation did not exist, then substances would fail to reach their target destinations inside, or outside of the cell.
In order to meet their requirements for survival, or to perform a specific function
because they need to be able to transport stuff
to escape from enemies, find food and water
For many of the same reasons you do: something they need is somewhere else or something harmful is where they are.
to maintain homeostesis.
the movement of ions across a cell membrane.
Alcohol moves across the cell membrane by means of osmosis.
This type of movement is called simple diffusion.
Diffusion is the simplest movement.
There would be no net movement of water across the membrane because the amount of solute inside and outside of the membrane is equal.

Movement of water across a membrane is called OSMOSIS.

they pass through channels in the cell membrane
There would be no net movement of water across the membrane because the amount of solute inside and outside of the membrane is equal.
Osmosis is the movement of water particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration, across a semi-permeable membrane.
No
osmosis
A cell has to have some thing moving across it or the cell will most certanly die.
