How has Canada been affected by dualism?

Well if you mean cultural dualism, Canada definitely has that. Cultural dualism is both a term that describes some characteristics of Canadian society and, in many people's view, an ideology according to which the social and political systems of Canada should be organized. It is based on the historical fact that Canada was colonized by both the French and the English, and that both groups are therefore the "founding peoples" of Canada. This fact is used to justify the privileges accorded these 2 groups in comparison to those accorded other ethnic groups, and to justify the equality of the 2 groups. The affects of this are clear. There is no moral basis for slowly eroding Federal powers in order to keep Quebec happy. Quebec has no moral basis for any more sovereignty than any other province. There has been a sad acceptance, by federalist Francophones and Anglophones alike that it is better to sacrifice some rights in order to avoid a separatist Quebec. Except it has never worked. The more powers have been devolved to Quebec, the more all Quebec Premiers of whatever political stripe have demanded
