Companies go globally primarily to gain greater market share. Some go global and move the headquarters to areas more favorable to their "legal" needs. In other words where regulation penalizes them less or not at all in areas like taxation, environmental issues. They move their plants to so-called "developing nations" for some of the same reasons and primarily cheap labor costs. To expand their market reach and create other revenue sources in other economies.
