Although large families are rare these days some people simply love children and will have as many children as they feel they can afford and some parents may even adopt or take in foster children. Then a few parents may keep having children because their religious beliefs may not allow them to use Birth Control.

When couples choose to have no more than two children this will result in?

When couples choose to have no more than two children, it can lead to a stabilization of population growth, which may alleviate pressure on resources and the environment. This decision can also promote better financial stability and allow parents to invest more time and resources into each child’s education and well-being. Additionally, it may contribute to demographic shifts, such as an aging population, if birth rates decline significantly over time. Overall, this choice reflects changing societal values regarding family size and economic considerations.

What is life like before you have children?

Less responsibility, more rock. What I have heard so many couples say is: "What did we do with ourselves...?" They feel they wasted so many years being selfish, when raising children (good children) is so rewarding. I know personally some couples who are currently seeing the last of their children leave home for college, and they all say, "Why didn't we have more kids...?" Before you have children, you live only for yourselves, after you have children, you have to be the grownup and let the child have center stage. Some couples do not like doing that. Most mature people love it.

What percentage of gay couples have children?

If specifically asking about marriages, see related question below. In it's literal form, this question is very hard to answer as many couples, regardless of genders, do not develop into long term partnerships. Gay marriages have the highest percentage of households with children, at 16% in Canada. This is followed by same-sex common law unions which have about half the rate of households with children at about 8% in Canada. The percentage of non-common law, non married gay couples with children is much lower. In the United States, about 20% of gay couples are raising children as of 2014.
