Crime is addictive. Its the same as alcohol, drugs or pornography. The Holy Bible says that our hearts, so often, are our enemies. We see stuff and we got to have it. If we dont control ourselves the greed factor in the heart takes over and we can do criminal acts to get what we want. Shoplifters are a classic "addiction behaviour" pattern. They start off stealing little things, and they dont get caught, so they steal more. Generally, in the end, everyone gets caught some way or other. You cant beat the boys in blue or The Lord.
