Dogs may bark at mailmen, because the think strangers are approaching their Territory, they are trying to protect you, its a old dog thing, don't worry.
Its quite natural for them to bark at the front door, if someone rings the bell or knocks on the door, so that's it really.

Dogs are very protective by nature and want to protect you, as you are their family or "pack." When the mailman comes into their home it is seen as a threat and a dog might attack.
