There are a few reasons why a dog may chase your bike. Some dogs are attracted to the motion, commonly herding dogs chase for this reason (think Border Collies or Australian Shepherds). In this case, the dog is usually attracted to other items in motion like cars or people on roller blades, people running, or other dogs and animals that run. Other dogs are chasing out of aggression in a territorial mode, or could be fearfully aggressive about having a "threat" near them in general. Some dogs may be bored, and a bike or car going by is something to entertain themselves with. In all of these cases, training and exercise can help a dog overcome its desire to chase bikes.
Dogs have a natural instinct (they are born with it) to chase things. It's the instinct that allowed them to hunt and chase down their meat back back when they were wolves. Now, some dogs have more chasing instinct than others. If your dog has a lot of chase instinct (sometimes called prey drive), then an owner needs to find ways to keep his chasing from being dangerous, like keeping him in the house, a fenced yard, or on a leash all the time.
It's instinctive. Something is running from them, and they are hunting it. And the more they run after it, the more it runs away. You can train a dog not to do it though. Look under "Dog Training" in a search engine for a good start.
It's obviously dangerous for a dog to do it. So training is important. Or make sure he's fenced in.
Some dogs chase in general. The vehicle doesn't matter. It can be a scooter, skateboard, bicycle, motorcycle, car, truck, RV or Semi Tractor with a Trailer. But there are dogs that will chase a loud noise such as a motorcycle with loud exhaust pipes. The sound of those loud pipes hurts their ears and causes them to have an Anxiety attack which causes them to chase the loud noise.
Many dogs will. You can train them not to but most dogs instinct is to chase critters like squirrels.
