I did some research on this. Dogs are omnivorous, not carnivorous meaning they need vegetables in their diet. (If you check your dog food you'll see rice and other grains in there. Not just as fillers!) So, he/she is fulfilling his need for fiber. You could try adding some fresh vegetables to your dog's diet so he won't eat grass so much. Some people also say that dogs eat grass because of an upset tummy, but my border collie eats grass freely and has never thrown up with it.
