Farming is not a recreational activity, nor is it an activity that depends on people touring a farm. Farming is dependent on producing a primary resource in the form of produce for making food, than to have many people come out and look at the place and admire its aesthetics.

However, since the true story of agriculture desperately needs more exposure, there are places which do an excellent job of farming while showing non-farmers what it's really all about. This practice is called "agri-tourism" or "agri-tainment." Fair Oaks Dairy Adventure in northwest Indiana (not far from Chicago) is doing an excellent job telling the story of dairy farming in the US, and will soon open a new section of the farm called "Pig Adventure," showing how pork production works on a real farm.
