Mostly because they are afraid that they'll be made fun of and called names. Or, if their parents find out, that they would be disappointed that their kids didn't turn out as they wanted them to be. but parents should always love their kids so don't be afraid to tell them who you are. Anyways, off subject. Mainly their afraid. Unsure of how people will react.
There many reasons why gay people are afraid to come out. Here is a short list:
Many gay people do not feel comfortable with the whole world knowing their sexual orientation. We cannot blame them for hiding this. After all, society has yet to fully accept homosexuality as being normal and a part of a person's identity (like race or gender).
It is completely up to the person if they want to disclose their sexual orientation and who they want to tell.
Many reasons, but most of them have their basis in fear.
The biggest reason that gay people remain closeted is fear. They may be afraid of losing family and friends, or they may be afraid for their lives or freedom.
Yes, there are lots of gay athletes in the NFL. And in the world. But they are afraid of what people will say if they come out. This is a sad state of affairs.
The chicken is a bird. Also, the number of gay people in society is not increasing. It might seem that way because gay people aren't as afraid as they used to be to come out.
they are gay people who are not afraid to be themselves.
A small percentage are afraid - or, at least, uncomfortable around them. Afraid they might be hit on. Afraid the guy is looking at them and thinking about what they might do to them. Some are afraid of guilt by association. If you are around a gay guy, you might be gay also. Rarely are any of these fears justified.
people who are afraid of gay people, or who just hate gay people, think it's bad to be gay. So they use the word "gay" as an insult, when it's really just part of human nature. Some of these hateful people are actually gay themselves, but can't bring themselves to admit it.
Their parents mostly the father.
NO, because gay people have the right to love who ever they want to and know one should judge them.
No, most people don't want to be gay. People who are gay are either happy, or not, with the way they are. People who are straight do not want to become gay. Anyway, it is not possible to seriously change from one to the other. Nobody can become gay, everyone is born knowing they are gay. Some people are too afraid to come out and accept that they're attracted to their gender, so those who "become gay" have always been gay, they just came out a little later than they should have.
Hatred usually comes from fear, or ignorance: you either don't know who we are, or you're afraid of your own feelings. So a person who hates gay people is either afraid, or uneducated.
They are no more dangerous than people who like the opposite sex.
They feared being discriminated against.
