So that the steam from the bun can be out from the box
they like dark boxes that they feel secure in and any hidey-holes. make sure they can get out when they want to and there are breathing holes!
The holes release the moisture or the steam which is the reason the fries get soggy.
Holes are made in shoe boxes so when they are stacked and you need to pull one out, you can just put your finger through the hole and pull.
It would be much more practical for you to buy plastic boxes that do not have ten holes in them, and to then drill the holes you want, yourself, with an electric drill. There is not a lot of demand for boxes that come with ten holes in them. Storage boxes are readily available as a type of kitchen supply. If you can't get them in black, you might consider painting them.
Black holes are unusual phenomena.
Usually cages or boxes with air holes marked "dangerous animal"

That will depend on the size of the styrofoam pieces. If they are significantly larger than the sand, you merely pick them out by hand. If not, then a sieve can be used assuming the sand will go thru the sieve and the styrofoam will be too large to pass through. You need to find a sieve with the right size holes. Another way is to add acetone and the styrofoam will dissolve, and the sand will stay behind, but this technique doesn't give you the styrofoam back again.
in boxes(my guess)or killed make sure the box has holes and something to keep them warm
If you are using proper authorised outlet boxes, they come with all the holes pre-cut. Holes to mount wire clamps and holes for mounting screws. If you don't use these you are not 'to code'
