There's many reasons why your iPod may freeze. It's happened to me a couple of times, and for some people it is because they have downloaded for example a piece of music containing a virus. There is however the possibility that there is something wrong internally - in which case, it is probably best to send it off to be repaired. When your iPod freezes: 1) - My theory: Press and hold any of the buttons in a random order, my iPod usually comes back on after a few seconds. 2) For more serious freezing: Press and hold both the middle and centre button for about 5-10 seconds. It should come back on. 3) Visit iTunes - your iPod may need an update. 4) Let your iPod run out of charge - probably the most boring and worst idea. 4) Restore the settings on iTunes when you plug your iPod in. 5) Flick the tiny silver button at the top once forwards and and backwards - though this rarely works. Thats all for now, hope I helped!

One reason an electric motor might lock up is if the bearings seize or freeze (not meaning "freeze" from cold weather but "freeze" as in "lock up" and be unable to function).
