Life savers have holes in them in case one is accidentally swallowed whole, especially by a young child. The hole allows you to breath until it is removed, swallowed all the way, or dissolves enough to be swallowed.

Thank you! Recently this morning I was on a school field trip and my teacher gave me a lifesaver mint… I accidentally swallowed it while and almost had to get the Heimlich done on me but I could still breath and it was a lot better! Thank you HOLE!!
