Why do not any automobile company is using plastic glass as a windscreen?

Plastic is susceptible to hazing and scratches which would soon render it unusable as a front windshield. This is also a problem with armored windows on bulletproof vehicles which sandwich exotic plastics between sheets of custom glass. Within about five years the glass is hazy and in a decade it's nearly impossible to see through. Convertible tops have had plastic rear windows for years as a cheap alternative to glass and they become opaque within a few years as moisture and scratches take their toll.
