Answer
Problems/Issues are opportunities waiting to happen, the past just makes them easy to ignore (for a while?)
Answer
Obviously the more you ignore something the better you get at it and your instinct is to become more entrenched in your side, which is still a problem/Issue. My advise is find the good in the situation however obvious or insignificant and spend your time focused on that outcome and not how you feel about the issue itself. In time you can forget the issue and enjoy the positive outcome, and eventually perhaps only remember the issue fondly as necessary for leading you to a positive solution to the issue once and for all. Be it ever so humble.
The opportunity to laugh at ones past comes from understanding it.
