In the cartoon Pokemon, people believed that Darkrai is responsible for the bad dreams. It is fictional but isn't obvious that Darkrai has some connection to the nightmare folklore? But...

Any food that disturbs an individual's digestion might lead to bad dreams - but only for that specific individual. Bad dreams are not directly caused by any particular food, but indigestion, intestinal discomfort or restless sleep caused by any sort of pain can give rise to disturbed dreams.
