Can euthanasia go wrong?

Of course. Anything can go wrong, and when you involve life-or-death situations, the results can be devastating. The most striking example of Euthanasia gone wrong can be seen in the Netherlands, where several sources estimate that around one thousand people are euthanized by doctors every year without their consent, for the simple reason that doctors decided it was time for them to die. According to a video by the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide called Euthanasia; A False Light: It has gotten so bad in Holland that people have in their wallets little cards that say, "Do not euthanize me without my consent."

Why is euthanasia used?

Euthanasia is from the greek words Eu (good) and Thanos (death). The name says it all - Euthanasia means good death. Euthanasia of pets is a fairly common decision when a terminally ill or injured pet cannot be saved by veterinary intervention and is suffering. Euthanasia of humans, by choice of that person, is a far more controversial topic. Many people believe that they have the right to end their lives at peace and with dignity, whenever they choose. Many individuals feel that a person has the right to decide to die rather than linger, perhaps for years. In such circumstances, the person may feel a burden on their loved ones, and they are often in substantial pain. Others (right to life groups) claim that euthanasia is wrong. Some of these groups are religious and claim that since God bestows life, only God has the right to take it away.

Why do some people feel euthanasia is right?

Some people feel that euthanasia is right because they feel that there are circumstances (such as having intractable pain or a terminal illness) where we should allow an individual to make the choice to end their life in a comfortable manner. Supporters of euthanasia feel that a persons quality of life is more important than just extending the length of someones life. So a person might feel that it is better to end their life peacefully than live longer but in alot of pain. People may make the choice to die for many reasons, for instance they may feel that the suffering they are tolerating will may last for a long period of time or they may feel that they will become a burden on their loved ones when they becomes incapacitated. when that person makes the choice for themselves that they would feel better off dying in a comfortable manner with closure. Some people feel euthanasia is right because they feel that individuals should have that personal freedom. They should be free to make the decision for themselves if/when they end their life, without interference from the government

Why do christians believe euthanasia is wrong?

I used to be a Christian and I still think that euthanasia isn't bad. People who've have termal cancer and it's not going to get better, I believe should have help with it. I believe that it should be legal. Unfortunately there would be people who would abuse it. Also, I don't think animals should suffer. My mother is a Christian and she has the same views on this as I do. It's cruel to watch people/animals suffer when they would be much better off and in less pain if they were euthanasia.

Why do you think euthanasia is morally wrong?

It is morally wrong because God should pick when you die and also since your killing your self you are breaking a sin basically you are committing murder. That is why it is morally wrong.

What people are affected by euthanasia?

Euthanasia can affect patients who may consider it as an option to end their suffering, as well as their families who may have to make difficult decisions about end-of-life care.
