Back in slavery days, people were taught to hate people of other races, since that allowed the slave owners to justify their actions. People considered humans as being above animals and believed that God created animals to serve mankind. So all a slave owner had to do to justify their actions was to convince everyone that some people were just animals, and could be bought, sold, and worked like farm animals.
Today, it is rarely the race that people hate, but the cultures associated with various races. People believe certain negative things about various ethnic minorities, and sadly, a good amount of that seems to be true. That stems from a culture of poverty and also from being isolated from the larger culture for so long. When you have a group of people who feel cut off from the larger culture for so long, they often form a negative culture with negative values, and they pass those onto their children. Then a number of their children grow up to harm members of the predominant group or members of other minorities, and it only reinforces the culture, as well as the resentment and hatred they receive.
Immigration is another touchy issue. It isn't about hating a people or their race, but about uncontrolled illegal immigration. It doesn't matter what the race is, if you pack too many people into an area and offer only limited resources they cannot all share, there will be conflict. It wouldn't be about race, but more about poverty, crime, sexual assaults, ID theft, etc. Then those who want to invade other countries to break the laws will accuse the host nation of being racists as Propaganda to deflect from their own malicious actions.

Ignorance. Ignorant people fear that which they don't understand and ignorant people don't understand a lot of things.
They are just ignorant.
they gave world another direction...Germans hate Jews while Italians hate black people
I am Mexican and i think black people are cool. I had NEVER seen a Mexican that hates a black person unless that person picks on them.BUt most Mexicans don't hate black people.
The question implies that Jews are a race, and that hatred of Jews is built into other races. As a matter of fact, race is a social construct with no clear biological basis, and hatred taught, not inherited through any genetic mechanism. There are Jews of every race, and there are people of every race who do not hate Jews. Sadly, there are those who hate Jews, and some of them define their hatred in racial terms.
it is to prosecute victims of hate crimes based on race or gender
Not everyone prefers another race - many people are attracted to others who look similar. However, many people are attracted to differences - someone from another race is exotic and new compared to the "usual" people that they may see around them in their daily lives. Most people end up picking a partner based on personality instead of just looks - that's the only way to get a lasting relationship that makes both of you happy.

It may come from self hate. A person may blame another race for what has happened previously in their life, or even anothers.
The Holocaust. How people can hate a whole race of people. How someone can hate someone they have never met or been wronged by them.
Some people hate others because of their race or ethnicity, but educated people don't judge others on anything but their actions.
No actually it is not, it is not fine to hate any race. That is racism and it is unkind. You cannot just hate a race of people just because. You may hate one person of the race, for whatever reason, but do not assume that you can hate everyone in the race for the same reason. That is judging a book by a cover, or more specifically, basing your opinion off one person out of practically a billion. Not everyone is the same, everyone is quite different.
What was his "race"? Alpine?
Racism can get so bad someone would murder someone of another race out of pure hate. This can happen anywhere in the world, by any race, toward any race.

Yes. It is wrong to hate people on account of their ethnicity, religion, or race.
Hate, masquerading as simple ignorance.
African-American is the most likely to be a victim of a hate crime based on race. Jewish people are the most likely based on religion.
