Me being a brace face knows your answer. We need rubber bands to help our teeth get in place. For the last five to six months they help keep your teeth straight so when you close your mouth they are all lined up nice and neat.
Your orthodontist will usually tell you if you need rubber bands or not.
Two types of rubber bands that are available for braces are single elastic ligatures and connected elastic ligatures. Both ligatures are available in a variety of colours and would need to be changed at every appointment as they lose strength over time.
To keep your teeth together The tension in the rubber band keeps a constant pull on the bracket it is attached to. Most times these rubber bands are only needed for serious overhaul on teeth and are only used in extreme cases. Most people who need this device are from ages 7-13
They're rubber bands that separate you teeth so you'll have more room when you get braces on. You will usually have them on for a week then you get braces. If you have any questions about it, call your orthadontist for all the info you need about spacers or your braces.

You need metal bands because you have an overbite. The metal bands have hooks on them. You put rubber bands on each of the hooks (they are on the top and the bottom) and then it pulls your teeth into the right shape. Btw don't worry it does't hurt when they put the metal bands on. Not everyone needs them because not everyone has an overbite.
Usually on the back braces on your teeth, as well as some on the front, there are little hooks. These hooks are used to loop the rubber bands around when the teeth need pulled in another direction to straighten them out.
the purpose if rubber bands is the elastic, for example if you need to wrap somthing up you can use a rubber band
usually the rubber bands are to correct overbites and therefore if the intensity of the bite is medium, it is kept in for just six to twelve months. Also if you wear two on each hook, it speeds up the pace I've been wearing my rubber bands for a month now...and they dont bother me that much. You'll probably have 2 wear them 1, 2, or 3 months....depends on your situation
What is really cool about the colors on your braces is that the rubber bands do not come off of the actual braces but the ones that attach the top and bottom teeth do come off. So I would not worry because the bands do need come off so therefore you will not choke on them. Not to worry. I highly doubt that would happen because I cannot even get mine off. Also, just so you know, the dentist takes them off for you and you are supposed to be able to take them out so if you can you should call up your dentist and discuss it with him/her. I don't know if other people's can because at my dentist the bands do not come off.
Well, Rubber bands are given to you by your orthodontist. If they showed you how to do it, and you can't remember, or they didn't take the time to show you, here is how to attach them. First of all, you need the small rubber bands from your orthodontist. Now you hook it on one of the hooks, and stretch it gently to the next hook. If you can't do it with your fingers, try using tweezers, because it can reach in small areas. Make sure you wash your hands first, and take them out before eating! Good Luck!
Well, be sure to brush your teeth after you eat each meal, and really good if you eat something sugary or sticky. Don't eat hard foods except in small pieces, wear your rubber bands if you need them
