Because apples are sweet and crunchy, and people like them. They add some flavor and texture contrast to the potatoes, even though the appearance isn't all that different.
People have differing tastes in foods. I've never put apples in my potato salad; I use chopped celery for the texture contrast. I've never seen apples used in potato salad. But apples might be good for that. But not for German potato salad; apples wouldn't be good there.
No, Fuji apples are best to eat out of hand and put in a salad.
You can drain the water and let them sit on the counter for about twenty minutes. When they are cool enough to handle you can make the potato salad. If you put them in water the potatoes will absorb more water and get mushy. If you put them in the refrigerator they will be kind of dried out and your potato salad won't be very creamy. I prefer making it with warm potatoes and then refrigerate the potato salad.
Lettuce is more accepting of outsiders. Where apples and oranges are less accepting. LOL
most people put there apples in a fruit bowl
Depends what else you put into it. I would make about 130 pounds of salad from 100 pounds potato as I add eggs, onion, bell peppers etc.
I do, but whether to do it or not is strictly a matter of taste - it's not required, or forbidden.
1.10, but I don't know what currency.
Apples, carrots, onion, salt, sauerkraut, sour cream and sugar are the ingredients in Latvia's sauerkraut salad with apples and carrots.Specifically, grate separately apples, carrots and onion. Put in a bowl in the following order sauerkraut, carrots, apples and onion. Mix gently. Then add in the following order sour cream, salt and sugar. Mix gently. Serve fresh.
$4.00 to $6.00 depending on what you put in it.
Not a good idea! It would not harm you, but it will change the consistency and texture, and....well it's just not going to taste the same.I would not recommend freezing potato salad.
Onion is what goes bad in the potatoe salad because it attracks bacteria. If you use mayo that is home made then that can go bad but the commercial mayo has preservatives in it. If you put an onion out on the counter when someone is sick and let it there over night you will see how it attracks the bacteria.
yes if people put poison in it
