Why do people refuse to hire you when you have bad credit?

Many companies now use the job applicant's credit history to gauge how responsible or trustworthy the employee might be on the job. Companies also believe that applicants with a poor credit history could be at risk to commit embezzlement, theft of company property, goods, or products, or theft of petty cash.

I think characterizing some one over a credit history is neither fair nor the indicator of other distinctiveness such as the individual is dishonest, honest, thief, trustworthy ,crook … and so on. Regardless of their good credits we spotted many dishonest executives, ministers, official officers and… that already were performing their jobs publicly or in private sectors. Someone may argue that if there is two candidates one with good credit and one with bad, why should I hire the one with bad credit? That someone might as well say why should I hire someone for example, who does not have a rich and generous friend, family members and parents?

If you know you have a bad credit history because you lost your job, had medical problems, or your family or child had an emergency situation that meant you could not pay your bills for a time, then get a letter that verifies the situation. For example, if you lost your job but looked for work, see if the unemployment office would write a letter stating the reason you lost the job and how many weeks you looked for other employment. If the reason was medical, ask the doctor to write a letter stating that there was a major medical problem or surgery, with the start and end dates that were involved. Ask that they give you the letter so you can make copies for different potential employers.

The statement above is good recommendation. However, it does not work with many companies .such as PayPal, Yelp, and Verizon and… They even do not give the applicant a chance to clarify the reason of their adversity situation.

In the interview, IF you really want to work for the company and believe they will do a credit check, you can bring up the topic and offer your explanation. Tell them you have a letter verifying the reasons you fell behind on paying your bills and ask if they would like a copy. Some interviewers will be content to just read the letter and note it on your interview documents.

Once more the statement is perfectly describing a desired situation. In reality the interviewer might have a bad credit also and sympathizes with the applicant's financial situation. However, since the score credit had to be checked by the employer, the applicant never will be convinced that whether or not bad credit was the cause of being rejected.

While it may seem illegal or discriminatory for companies to investigate a credit history, this act has not been reviewed by the Supreme Court; no case has been brought to court, as far as I know. It is no different than a post-secondary school such as nursing school or medical school asking an applicant why he received D grades one year but had A's during all other years, or why the applicant had a period of absenteeism in high school. Each deficit in experience or action can indicate qualities or character faults.

The primary objective is whether the individual financial approach is going to affect the job performance and ability to accomplish his or her tasks. In fact there is no connection between the individual's credit score and employment; and if there is any tie possibly could be a positive connection between the individual financial situations and employment. Having a bad credit is a serious current phenomenon and is the consequence of many abilities. For instance a person who has the rich out sources like wealthy parents may come out of the hardship much easier and faster than a person who suddenly lost her/his pervious job and did not have such out sourcing…

Additionally, if your credit history interferes with obtaining many jobs, you can begin now to repair your credit history. Work with a "credit counselor" who can arrange lower payments for you, and who can document your attempts to repair your own credit. Then, in job interviews you can bring up your problematic credit history but also show documents of how you have faithfully been working to pay your bills and clear the bad credit.
