Why do people treat you like a kid just because you're 15 years old?

You are either half child/man or half girl/woman. 15 is a hard age to go through and we've all been there. You know some things, but not a lot of things you need to know at the age of 15 to keep yourself safe and that's all loving parents want for you. You are precious to them and whether 15 - 55 you always will be. Even when I was in my 50s my mother would often treat me as if I was 15 or 16 and I'd just let her enjoy it. Sometimes parents don't want to see their children grow up too fast. You don't understand that parents (especially the moms) go through a very rough time of letting go of their children and it's called, "the empty next syndrome". Still I know how you feel. Sit down with your parents and tell them that although you aren't a full man (or woman) yet, you consider yourself independent to some degree and don't appreciate being treated like a child. When you make that statement be prepared to take on adult responsibilities! No more whining about having to come home at a certain time, who you can or can't hang around with or you don't want to do your chores or your parents have to get angry to make you do your homework. If you don't want to be treated like a child, then start acting like an adult! Don't be in too big a hurry to be an adult (it isn't always fun.) Youth is but just a blink of an eye, but adulthood lasts almost a lifetime. The truth of the matter is, when we are kids we want to grow-up fast to do as we like and when do grow up and are considered adults we often wish we could go back to our childhood. There is just no pleasing us human species. LOL
