It helps protect their skin from the sun since they have little body hair. It also gets rid of parasites.
Pigs lie in mud to cool themselves down and to prevent themselves from getting sunburns. Since a pig's skin is so unprotected, just as ours is, they use mud as a sort of completely natural, but utterly smelly, sunscreen.
No. Pigs do have sweat glands but they do not function like a human's does. They can release a little water and heat through passive diffusion, but it is not enough for the pigs to rely on. So in order to combat heat, pigs have adapted by using behavioral thermoregulation, which is the act of cooling themselves in the mud or water.
Surprisingly, pigs aren't that dirty. They don't usually roll in mud like some say. They are a lot like dogs. they like to stay clean, and root around. So pretty much, they dirtiest part on a pig would probably be his nose. Pigs are only animals, i think they will eat what they are given and stay where they are reared. Humans are dirty.....if pigs are given good food instead of left-overs and reared in clean places, they will never be called "DIRTY". MR. boobs
Pigs do not eat mud. Actually pigs are really neat animals. They only go in mud because their skin is very sensative. They can also go in fresh water but when there isn't there go in mud. No, they do not eat mud. They eat slop, which has corn, oats, carrot and more. 8)
Pigs roll in the mud for a number of reasons:To keep cool as they lack the ability to cool down by sweating. To help protect their pale skin from sunburn. To keep flies and other biting insects from bothering them.
yes if they are certain kind, but they like mud so yes they do.
Pigs don't like wet , only mud. So no , they live in your house.
because they look so much like you
They do not. Pigs have no sweat glands, so they roll in mud to cool themselves off. If you happen to accidently sneak up on a wild pig rolling in mud, and it attacks you, if you're uneducated like many people, you're likely to tweet or facebook about how you were attacked by a camoflauged piggie.
Guinea pigs are so so so so so much better than rats.
Not so much.

Pigs do not naturally smell bad. If someone raised a dog somewhere dirty, the dog would smell. Pigs are raised either in farms or in tiny pens (where they do all their pooing and peeing, so they smell alot) so they smell thanks to no fault of their own. Pigs also have no ablility to sweat. To keep cool, stop themself from burning and to get rid of termites, they will roll in mud. Or, if they haven't been cleaned out, poo. Pigs are much cleaner than dogs. It is one of the misunderstood facts about pigs. That also means the saying 'I am sweating like a pig' isn't true. == ==
