All plants store food in their different parts & in different forms .For example - potato (a stem) is a form of stored food . Plants store food to have sufficient energy for their metabolism in case of shortage of food ,for example - if there is less amount of water or sunlight then plants will be unable to manufacture food with the help of photosynthesis.

The amount of food stored depends upon the abiotic factors , in other words their surrounding environment . For example - Desert plants need more stored food than grassland plants .
