This is a very vague question, in which the asker assumes that Protestants in general feel this way. However, "Protestant" is a blanket term that covers many denominations of the Christian faith outside of Catholicism. This is a general misconception for many people. The Bible does not teach that men are above women, only that the man should be the head of the household; meaning he should support the family financially and spiritually, setting a Godly example for his wife and children

Are men and women equal in Mormonism?

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' Church) believe that men and women are equal but with distinct roles and qualities. Both men and women are leaders in the Church, but in different capacities. Men and women are considered equals in the family but with separate roles. A woman's opinions and rights are considered equal with a mans, and women are expected to work together with their husbands to run the household and to work together with the men of the congregation to run the church. However, in the case of a disagreement, the men have the final authority.
