The USMC is no more or less honorable than any other US Military service. All US service members, be they Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, Air National Guard, or Coast Guard are brothers and sisters serving their country and each other. The individual goals, ethics, morals, and mores of each individual are theirs alone. As a whole, the job they do is honorable in that they have volunteered to do it, they stand as a whole in the defense of our nation, and they are the first boots on the ground in other nations who need our help, support, and defense. Those who have served understand.

What does be honorable to yourself if you wish to associate with honorable people mean?

To be honorable is to be worthy of honor. Simply put, people look up to honorable people because of their status or what they have done in their past. A honorable person may be brave, honest, noble, successful, etc. And they tend to achieve these qualities in a honest fashion. These type of people will most likely want to be with other people of this type. So if you want to be in their company you will need to be like them.

Are Marines jerks?

"No, they aren't! If you think they are, you're crazy! 'Cause they're cool and they defend us well!" The above was posted by another user. To answer your question: The idea that an entire group of people can be descriped in one word is nothing more than stereotyping. It's like saying "all college football players are dumb" or "white men can't jump." There are plenty of stereotypes out there, and this is nothing more than one of them. Are marines different? Sure. They go through a rigorous trainign program just to earn the right to be called Marines. This naturally gives some of them a feeling of elitism, but the fact is that most Marines are just proud to be Marines, and are happy to have the opportunity to serve their country. I was in the Marines on active duty for 4 years. One of my best friends was a soldier, and the other an airman. I don't look at them as though they are lesser people because they weren't Marines, and most Marines don't either. The people who say that Marines are jerks really haven't met very many Marines. If they did, they would have different attitudes.
