Why do terrorists blow stuff up?

They don't like blowing things up. They like serving their god. They are taught to sacrifice their lives or simply end the lives of others in order to achieve their goals. For example, Al Qaeda believes it is their job to kill as many Americans as possible. Terrorists just about always do what they do because of religion. Also, terrorists such as Al Qaeda are told that by killing themselves they are dying honorably and rewarded in the next life, usually with virgins.

There are many motives behind suicide bombings; mainly:

• religious sanctification to revenge for Western foreign policy
• hatred of Israel, and/or
• resisting home country attackers and invaders.

The suicide bomber were told that by committing suicide they are holding the key to the Paradise although committing suicide is strictly forbidden per Islam rules and teachings.

Because the intent is to terrorize others. Blowing stuff up tends to accomplish that.
