Ever watched a movie called christine? Nah, check your wiring harness for the headlights and look for a bare spot(s) with wire showing...could be grounding
its on the left turn signal switch, at the end is the headlights, then one in is the fog lights, you twist it just like you would the headlights
Mine is built into the ignition switch. After you crank it turn the key back to the left slightly.
If it's like a 1996 tracker the headlights won't come on unless the parking brake is released or the light switch is on.
GET A WIRING DIAGRAM. MOST DEALERS ARE HELPFUL, THEY WILL PRINT YOU OUT A COPY FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT.
Set your light switch to "auto" on the dash and your lights will come on automatically with the ignition. Turn your light switch on your dashboard to "auto" or "automatic" and the lights will come on and off with your ignition switch.
check the door switch
It sends a power to the starter relay/solenoid to engauge the starter. Know that the ignition switch is not what you put the key in and turn. That is the lock assembly. The ignition switch is located lower down on the steering column.
headlights and the brake switch are "hot" (always have power going to them) they are on there own powersource, the ignition is also on its own powersource, when you turn the key it pushes a lever forward contacting the switch inside the column, your question is vague, what don't you have ? cranking, power to ignition, troubleshooting is the key to fixing any vehicle... its a series of tests leading to fixing the problem
faulty wiring or you are accidentally hitting the switch and not realizing it
THERE IS NO FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH ON YOUR CELICA
I didn't want to wait, so I bought an ignition switch ($99 for a Duralast switch at Autozone) and installed it. It fixed my headlight problem. The directions to replace the ignition switch are attached. I have read that the ignition switch is the root cause of many electrical issues with Intrigues. My problem was I couldn't turn on the headlights manually, and I had to depend on the automatic headlight feature to turn the lights on at night, which stinks when I wanted headlights at dusk or in light rain (although I could run with fog lights, but darn it, I want my headlights to work!). I have read that others have only been able to turn their lights on manually without the automatic headlight feature working. Both issues appear to be fixed by either replacing the ignition switch or cleaning the terminals on the ignition switch. The theory is that most of the power system flows through that device and affects everything. I have heard about various heating and cooling system issues related to the ignition switch as well.
Battery cables could be loose, battery could be bad, starter could be bad, starter solenoid could be bad, ignition switch could be bad. Turn on the headlights and try to crank the engine. If the headlights dim or go out look at the cables or battery. If they stay bright look at starter, solenoid or ignition switch. The neutral safety switch or clutch petal switch could do it too.
