could be the setting you have it on (some keys, when pressed twice, makes windows go down
If the features enabled, hold down the unlock button when it is locked and all windows will open until you let go of the button. Same in reverse for the lock button. This is not enabled on all BMW's though, something to do with safety regs in different countries i think.
Many vehicles with power windows have a switch on the drivers side window control panel that can lock out control from all other switches, check to be sure that switch isn't on.
Depending on the age of the Mountaineer, they all come with power windows now. The driver has control of all 4 windows and can also lock them so other passengers cannot roll up or down their window.
Because the feature is messed up and you must take it to the dealer and get it fixed.
I have a 1988 BMW 325I and the power windows stopped working all of a sudden after a starter was replaced. Any help would be highly appreciated. Respectfully Submitted, Mills
In BMW's all models Ive heard of...there is a spoke or sproket that is plastic that actually turns the wheels to roll up or down the window, it breaks down in most BMWs
The comfort control in the door allows windows to raise themselves when you lock the car by turning the key in the door lock twice when locking. It is possible this switch, computer, is going bad if the windows lower by themself.
broken switch or fuze
yes i beleave they are supposed to be one touch in both directions, however there were some production dates were they were not but i don't beleave that affected the 325i. i presume they go down with one touch but not up. try to reinitialize the windows, do this but getting in the car and starting it and let it idle, close all the doors and lower the front windows, now pull up on the window buttons all the way and when the windows close keep holding the buttons up in the close position for about 10 seconds, try the windows now, if that doesnt work, try the procedure again, (try about 3 times) if they down work still you might have a problem and i suggest taking it to your BMW dealer.
If the windows don't go all the way down, it is likely they are designed that way because of the shape of the door and can not be fixed.
I would think that the drivers side control is bad. All the power for the other windows also goes thru this control. I would obtain a control from a salvage yard (15.00) and replace it. Also check the wires that pass thru the door jam for fraying.I you. Mark
