A balanced diet is important because the human body needs certain nutrients in order to function properly. Without these nutrients (such as calcium, protein, and potassium), health problems can occur because the body does not have what it needs.
For example, without calcium, bones become weak and break more easily. Protein builds muscle strength, and potassium reduces muscle cramping. There are innumerable benefits to having a healthy diet. Just some of these are being stronger, sleeping better, maintaining a healthy weight, improving concentration, and keeping organs functioning properly.

-On a side note- The most important part of a balanced diet is WATER. Every part of your body needs water to function. The recommended amount of water for an adult is eight eight-ounce glasses per day. Soda and other drinks cannot act as a substitute! If you absolutely cannot stand drinking plain water, try adding some flavor to it with the packeted powders that are sold in grocery stores.
