X-rays are a type of light ray, but not all light rays are X-rays. X-rays have a wavelength ranging from 10 to 1/100 of a nanometer. Because humans can only see light with a wavelength between 700 and 400 nanometers, it is invisible to us. X-ray radiation is harmful to humans, as well.
visable light is what we can see because we cant see radio waves, micro waves, ultra violet, infa red, x-ray or gamma rays
The electromagnetic wave radiation spectrum is large . . . it goes from radio waves to microwaves to light waves to X-Rays and so on. We can only see the part of this spectrum that we call light waves. The colors of visible light waves runs from red on the low end, through orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. We cannot see light that is lower than red or higher than violet. "Infra" means 'below'. "Infra red" means 'below red'. We can't see infrared or lower. "Ultra" means 'beyond or above'. "Ultra violet" means 'above violet'. We cannot see ultraviolet or higher.
Electromagnetic waves move in an oscilating fashion and do not need a medium. Light waves do not need a medium but light waves are considered both particles and waves (Dual Nature of Light). Neither can explain everything but allow us to learn some things. Light waves are simply a type of electromagnetic waves, there are other types (microwaves, x-rays etc.) Also, light waves are the only electromagnetic waves that we are able to see. Light waves also allow us to see colors (the electromagnetic spectrum).ANSWERAll electromagnetic waves, including light, have both wave and particle properties. It is more convenient to describe all electromagnetic radiation in terms of wavelength including light but also radio waves. If fact, all matter has wave properties. This is the principle of the eletron microscope where the wave proerties of electrons are used. Calculating the wavelength of a tennis ball is also possible. (See De Broglie wavelength)
Go to the grocery store.Hold a bottle of olive oil up to the light. If you can see the light through it, there's your answer.
Longer than light waves you can see.
Stars emit all kinds of radiation including light waves, cosmic rays, gamma rays, and X-rays. When we look at stars, we can only see the light waves. But using cameras that can 'see' the other wavelengths, particularly X-rays, then convert them to light waves that we CAN see, we notice a lot of things that simply do not show up by looking at the stars' light waves.
Ultraviolet rays are rays of light which are just beyond the visible spectrum for a human. These waves are shorter than the shortest waves possible for a human to see.
You perceive the electromagnetic waves from visible spectrum or light rays. When the light rays of higher wavelength enters your eyes, you see the red color.
Ultraviolet light, x-rays, and gamma rays carry more energy than visible light. (That's why ultraviolet light does nasty things to skin cells, and x-rays and gamma rays can penetrate solids.)
Ex-rays are and are used in doctors offices and airports! and sometimes to see how big your feet are! ;)
X-rays do not consist of electrons. They are electromagnetic waves. Just like more energetic visible light waves that we can see.
The answer is Ultraviolet Waves. But really the shortest so far found is Gamma Rays. They are a million million million of those Gamma Rays going past you each minute. Ultraviolet rays are shorter than regular light that we see, but not shorter than Gamma Rays.
No. There is a wide range of electromagnetic waves; we can only see a small amount. Depending on their frequency, electromagnetic waves are called radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, x-rays, or gamma rays.
No. The ones you can see are regarded as "visible light". In the electromagnetic spectrum, it has a shorter wavelength than radio waves, micro waves, and infra-red. After this is visible light which goes in the order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. It has a longer wavelength than ultra-violet, x-rays and gamma-rays.
Almost. They are shorter than radio waves, and they are the next order up from radio waves, but they have different properties in terms of interaction with materials. So right idea, wrong classification. See the Related Links.
Human eye can see light rays only. Most probably the vise verse is true. The electromagnetic rays that are seen by the human eye are called as light rays. It is from violet to red colors. Ultraviolet and infrared rays are not seen by human eye.
