I'm not a doctor, so this is just my experience. And of course it is probably wise to consult a physician if any infection is recurring.

I don't always get thrush. But when I did get it, I was given Nystatin Oral for it. However, if it is a young child, they have a blue paste that the doctor can apply which gets rid of it very quickly.

Thrush is a fungal infection. Properly, Candida A. Which is likely to come from the groin area or hands, following sexual activities; oral or manual. Like other fungus, it enjoys hot or warm & damp areas to live.

Also, there are other fungal infections readily transferable to the mouth from touching of feet, or of course from toe sucking. (Our boy wanted to chew his feet frequently during his first year; not to say we encouraged the practice!) lol

Besides oneself, the partner must be considered as a possible source. Which may require simultaneous treatment, so as not to pass it back and forth, as can happen.

Another reason for it appearing can be that after a course of Anti-biotics, the bacteria which compete with the fungus to live, are killed off which allows Candida to prosper. The time I had that happen, I got the Sporanox pill that wiped out any/all fungus' that may have been there or anywhere. Very potent, only needing one or two of them as I recall.
